Our safeguarding commitments
Last updated: 2026-05-28
Wizzmo is designed for children, and safeguarding is a product decision, not a policy bolt-on. Here's how that shows up.
No public leaderboards
Wizzmo never names a child to other children. Progress is private to the child, their parent or guardian, and (in schools) their teacher.
No AI training on child data
Children's answers, hints, and progress are never used to train any third-party AI model. They're processed transiently by Anthropic's Claude API under a data-processing agreement, then discarded.
No third-party advertising
Wizzmo shows no ads — not from us, not from anyone. We are subscription-funded precisely so children are never the product.
Age-Appropriate Design Code
Wizzmo is built to the UK ICO's Age-Appropriate Design Code. Defaults favour privacy; profiling is off; in-app language is age-appropriate. Our AADC audit is scheduled with external counsel ahead of launch.
No chat between children
Wizzmo has no peer-to-peer messaging surface and no social feed. There is no way for one child to send another child anything — no text, no images, no voice, no reactions. Children can be connected as friends, but only by their parents: a parent generates a friend code, shares it with the other child's parent out of band, and that parent approves it. A friendship changes exactly one thing — whether the two children can appear on each other's leaderboard — and either parent can remove it at any time from their dashboard.
Concerns and reports
If you have a safeguarding concern about content, behaviour, or a suspected security issue, email [email protected] or use the contact form and mark it "safeguarding". We respond same-day during UK working hours.
Designated safeguarding lead
Wizzmo is a supplier to schools, not an education setting, so we do not hold a statutory DSL role. Safeguarding disclosures reaching us are handled by a named member of the WiseBees Academy team, who is identified to each school by name and direct number as part of onboarding, before any pupil data is imported. If you need that name before then — for a due-diligence check, a DPIA or a governor's report — ask at [email protected] and we will give it to you the same working day. We will always pass a disclosure about a specific child to that child's school and, where appropriate, to the local authority designated officer; we do not investigate on a school's behalf.
Reviewing our practice
We review this policy annually and after any safeguarding incident. Schools and parents can request our most recent review summary.
